Here’s another taster from the ‘Monster Hunter Cartigan’ Novel. I wont explain this page as I don’t want to give anything away. We tried to create a ‘not of this world’ text for the speech bubble by cutting the font vertically and horizontally, shifting and flipping the shapes, which if carefully inspected, can still be translated to good effect.

Character creations for PBS USA
December 28, 2008 by danlish
I was asked to re-create all the characters for the hit Children’s TV show ‘The Electric Company’. Like the classic Electric Company, the show will draw from pop culture – music, comedy, technology and celebrities – to create a playful, hip, multi-media experience. Targeting children ages 6 through 10, The Electric Company aims to teach basic reading and grammar skills to the young viewers. In 1971 on the heels of its fabulously successful Sesame Street, the Children’s Television Workshop created The Electric Company. With its roots in Motown Sound, Broadway and Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, The Electric Company drew attention for six years as the most popular instructional television show. It would win an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Series, and its soundtrack album earned a Grammy.

Dec 05 2008: Heavy Pencil at the ICA
by danlish
My good friend SRI invited myself and Tom Ink fetish to the third installment of Heavy Pencil at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, where we took turns in showcasing a stream of conscious thought drawing, simultaneously being projected onto the ICA walls. There was no apparent theme, the only restraint being you react instinctively to the music being provided by various guest DJ’s. The event was a great success and fun was had by all + the food was fantastic!
